- Screencap of fake Max Matsuura blog post circulates
A fake screencap made to look like an entry from Avex CEO Max Matsuura's blog circulated around the internet. The fake message says that Avex will be taking over TVXQ's management for both Japan and Korea. Matsuura quickly posted a blog entry refuting the authenticity of the message. I hope he wasn't too annoyed. :(

  • SM says: n/a
  • Avex says:Avex announces that Tohoshinki will release a new single, Breakout, in 2010 and attend activities scheduled in January 2010.
Reliability of Source(s)
  • Avex is considered a reliable source. Only time will tell if TVXQ actually performs these scheduled activities, but the likelihood is high that they will.
  • Given the report in three sources, this is probably accurately-reported news.
  • Activities for November 26, 2009 and December 2, 2009 are confirmed later in November (see below)

- Max Matsuura clears up another fake email

Sources:
Who Said What?
  • JJY says: n/a
  • SM says: n/a
Reliability of Source(s)
  • Max Matsuura is the CEO of Avex. If he said he didn't send the email, he didn't send the email. It's a really stupid-sounding email about how he feels he should try to shut down anti-TVXQ sites, by the way. Sorry fans are putting you through this, Matsuura-san. I think they mean well. :|

November 24 & 25, 2009
- JJY and Ho Min fly from Korea to Japan, separately; Jaejoong's phone call with Eriko Kitagawa

Sources:
Who Said What?
  • Eriko Kitagawa says: Jaejoong called her and said he was on the plane heading for Japan (it seems they talked before the plane took off).
Reliability of Source(s)
  • As the video shows, JJY are departing from Gimpo airport. We assume they are heading to Japan for the upcoming Best of the Year Hits on November 26th. Update: Yes, JJY arrived in Japan and appeared on the Best Hit Song Award show with HoMin on November 26, 2009 (see below).
  • Eriko Kitagawa is the writer of Heaven's Postman and the information was posted on her personal blog.

November 26, 2009
- All 5 members give live interview before Best Hit Song Festival Before the Best Hit Song Festival began, the Miyaneya show had live shots and interviews with some of the artists and we got to see Tohoshinki stand on stage together for the first time since the Shanghai concert on October 2, 2009. Not only do they stand in reversed order, but the mood between them is not up to our usual, perky TVXQ standard.

Sources: Who Said What?
  • n/a
Reliability of Source(s)
  • This was the first event (in chronological order, not in the order Avex announced them) that Avex said the boys would attend since the end of the lawsuit. Since the boys attended the event it gives us more hope that they will continue to attend the scheduled events in Japan.
  • This interview was "live" so there is no hiding how they feel under editing or multiple takes.

November 26, 2009
- All 5 members perform live at NTV's Best Hit Song Festival
NTV's Best Hit Song Festival was a live event, so there's no hiding how they feel under editing. They sang a short version of "Stand By U" (ironic, huh?) and did a short interview with the MCs afterward. You'll have to watch and decide for yourself how they handled the situation. Regardless of how they are feeling, they were still able to sing for us, flawless as usual.

Sources: Who Said What?
  • n/a
Reliability of Source(s)
  • Avex had been saying TVXQ would be attending end of the year events in Japan and now that all five members showed up for Best Hit Song Festival, it gives us hope that they will continue to do all scheduled Japanese activities, however, remember that many events have been cancelled in Korea and China so we should wait to see if TVXQ performs at each and every scheduled event.

  • Usually, Avex announces news on their official website or their CEO blogs about it. This news comes from an alternate news source and therefore, the reliability cannot be determined at this time. Let's all hope it's true!

December 14 & 15, 2009 - JJY fly to Japan on 14th, HoMin on 15th

Sources:
Who Said What?

Reliability of Source(s)
  • We were all surprised to see JJY head off to Japan on the 14th and then HoMin on the 15th. Wondering what they are doing there? Maybe they are filming their new music video. See next entry for more details.

  • JJY say: n/a
  • SM says: n/a
  • Avex says: n/a
  • Sonny says: I'm filming a music video with a 5 member overseas band tomorrow (the 16th)
Reliability of Source(s)
  • Sonny is a backup dancer for TVXQ and even though he doesn't name them specifically in his blog, it is likely that it is TVXQ he is filming with based on the fact that all 5 members are in Japan.
  • Pictures from the video shoot went out on Tohomobile over December 16-17ish

Sources: Who Said What?
  • JJY say: n/a
  • SM says: n/a
  • Avex says: we planned the Best album all along, it's nothing new, please don't freak out
Reliability of Source(s)

December 17, 2009 - Yunho/Changmin and JJY fly back to Korea on different flights

  • n/a
Reliability of Source(s)
  • This is the first time since they started flying separately that they actually flew back on the same day, however, they still took different flights from what we can tell.

December 22, 2009 - Tabloid reports restrictions on TVXQ's communications
A Japanese tabloid, Women's Self, reported that TVXQ members were physically separated from each other into JJY/HoMin groups during recent filming of the "Break Out!" MV, as enforced by representatives from SM who were present.  This is similar to some fan-stirrings of similar behavior at the November 26th Best Hits Festival, but falls short of the "SM's 3 conditions" rumors that we didn't even bother to print here.  The article also states that the often-reticent Changmin appeared to be holding a silent protest simply because he didn't speak much. SM denied any such communication blocking occurred.

Sources: Who Said What?
  • JJY: n/a
  • HoMin: n/a
  • SM says: WTFever.  This would not be possible and is not happening.
Reliability of Source(s)
  • Despite the roundabout way it was acquired and posted on omonatheydidnt@lj, the original source of this article is Sports Seoul (who seems shaky in the reliability department).  Their source is the Japanese tabloid. (Not sure why Naver is credited, as I can't find it on Naver News.  I'm guessing they meant it was found using Naver as a search engine.)
  • Tabloids are tabloids.  This story bears some resemblance to ones that have come up before, however that's the thing about rumors.  Hearing the same thing multiple times either increases the likelihood that it's true, or means that whoever is wrirting the story picks something familiar so that you'll think it's more likely to be true.  Works both ways, LOL.
  • SM's denial is extremely plausible; it would be extraordinarily difficult to prevent two willing parties from communicating with each other.  However, there may be other circumstances that are making the situation less cut and dry than that, and SM's efforts may be futher hindering things.
  • Chamgin's kind of quiet anyway, and the informant is probably way out on a limb here.
  • Women's Self is NOT considered a reliable media source, despite being called "Japanese media" in the Korean articles.
  • This particular mods feels there may be seeds of truth in this article, as it's likely SM wants to keep HoMin distrustful of JJY and communication generally improves trust.  Additionally, someone working around TVXQ who does not particularly know them may have witnessed events that they have not interpreted entirely correctly.  So, possible kernels of truth here, but it's probably overstated/misinterpreted.

December 29, 2009 - Japanese media reports lack of access to TVXQ at Kouhaku Uta Gassen rehearsal
Media sources reported that TVXQ did not have a press conference and did not allow the press access to their Kouhaku Uta Gassen rehearsal.  It appears this is unusual.

Sources: Who Said What?
  • n/a
Reliability of Source(s)
  • Daily Sports Online is a "sports" paper, which means it's kind of gossipy
  • The statements in the article contain some information we know is true (such as no announced activities after January 1)
  • The statements also contain information we can't confirm obviously, but which would probably have been refuted were it not true (no press conference, Avex rep making statements, closed rehearsal)
  • However, there's a lot of conjecture here and the tone is ~*scandalous*~.  It's highly unlikely, for instance, that this publication knows anything about the status the Oranamin C or Break Out! promotions and whether or not they've been decided.  They've taken a few observations and read a lot into them.

January 1, 2010 - Breakup rumor reported by Japanese media, refuted by SM & JJY
A Japanese "sports" paper published a story that TVXQ had officially disbanded, and blah blah blah.  It was picked up briefly by the Korean media, but did not spread.  SM denied the rumor.

Sources: Who Said What?
  • JJY says: We have no idea what you are talking about.  Both sides are still trying to come to an agreement.
  • SM says: The rumor is baseless, and future plans for TVXQ haven't been determined.
  • Random Japanese website says: The rift between JJY & SM cannot be fixed; all parties are in the process of dissolving TVXQ. There will be a farewell concert in Korea and Japan in June.
Reliability of Source(s)
  •  This story did not spread, which says something about its reliability.

January 26, 2010 - Break Out! single is #1 on Oricon daily chart

February 17, 2010 - TVXQ's 30th Japanese Single "Toki wo Tomete" will be released March 24, 2010

We are well aware that it is the group, not just JJY.

"The article by Women's Self is purely rumour. It is creepy to have this thought that the members are being watched closely. Furthermore, we are in the generation where communication devices are everywhere. This could happen in the 1990s but in today's situation; monitoring them (TVXQ) is implausible and impossible. "

Sm said that but i remember Isak said they can only used telephone at home and managers checked their hand phone.
=.= sme...

but they do have a point, what's internet for??

i'm really worried now~~ too many things that we don't know

*frustrated*
12 26 09 (UTC)
Hmmm well, it's been probably 8 years since Isak was a teenage trainee/SM newbie. It's not unusual for parents to impose limitations like the ones she described on their children, and the SM-trainee/teen performer relationship is not unlike a parent-child one. I'm not saying it's right, but it's not actually that weird and of course the teens resent it.

But in 2009 you can buy prepaid phones out of a vending machine. And TVXQ are grown men free to live where they please, not young trainees living in SM dorms.

If there are communication issues, I see it more likely due to a variety of causes. Instead of five people who desperately want to contact each other being prevented from doing so by Gestapo-like surveillance and disruption, we might have a blend of insecurities, manipulation, distrust, doubt, inconvenience, schedule incompatibility etc combined with interference from SM, parents, friends, etc to keep the communication waters muddied either intentionally or by accident. That just seems more likely to me. If the five really want to communicate with each other, they definitely can do it, but it doesn't mean there aren't a lot of factors possibly affecting their resolve to make the extra effort to do so.
01 02 10 (UTC)
*cries* i'm really worried.

after the lawsuit had broken out, until the a-nation, they still seemed in good term with each others, but after that, maybe becoz of lack of interaction (since JSC moved out) and sme get in the way, their distrust and insecurities started to grow, then, maybe they did fight. and the thing i'm most worried about is that i don't think they have ever had a fight this big (too many things involve, and the group's future...)and because they are so close and they love each others a lot, when they first have a serious fight, they may don't know how to make up and end up to be on distant term with each others? (i don't wanna say they mad at each others but...)

gosh, somebody please kidnap them and bring them to a desserted island, let them stay there for a week to figure things out ><.
